MV3 File Created via Demux - Not Recognized

I have a problematic AVI file that I converted into a video file (mv3) and audio file (wav) because the original converted mpeg would not play sound in WinDVD5. What do I do with this file? There is no extention on my computer or program that recognizes this. My DVD Author wont view anything but mpeg when converting to DVD. WinDVD5 does not open and play this file. Is there something else I need to do before trying to put an mv3 file to DVD. Thanks.
