Some problems

Hi everyone,
I have some problems I would like to solve.
It has been quite a long time now that I adopted "DivX" but there still are things that annoys me.

1) While using FlaskMPEG everything worked fine with the audio conversion but now that I use Xmpeg 4.2a ( or later ) I can't convert audio anymore in the same time. I always get an ERROR message. So I have to leave the audio as it is and after the video convertion I use VirtualDUB to encode in MP3. ( I use Radium MP3 Codec )

2)When I create a 2 CD film I use VirtualDUB to cut the file. For the first part I don't have any problem. When I create the second part there is always a 1 sec stopping in the image at the beginning of the file. Just imagine that you launch the 2nd part and at the real biginning te image freeze for 1 sec or less. You would say that's nothing, but it's quite disturbing for me.

3)This isn't really a problem but how would you make Xmpeg 4.3 and above to open .IFO files ?

When you are at the XMPEG (v.4.5) download site, you'll note that there is a companion .mism file available for download. This is the file that will allow you to access .ifo files, rather than individual .VOBs...

For your second problem, make sure you cut on a keyframe.

Thank you for the Xmpeg IFO opening problem. Now I can enjoy the 4.5 too : )

For the VirtualDUB problem ( the 2nd one ) even if I cut on a key frame I still get that annoying freeze. I really can't understand.
Maybe VirtualDUB does errors on keyframes ..... cause I've noticed that keyframes are: 0 - 301 - 602 - 903 - .... and so on ( this happens when I click on the keyframe button ) and I converted the film with a 300 keyframe range. So, shouldn't be 0 - 300 - 600 - 900 - ..... and so on ?

I've never run into this apparent inconsistency using v.1.4D of VirtualDub. If this is, in fact, the case, perhaps it's a bug that's crept into a later version (I presume you're using v.1_4_9)

Divx not only inserts keyframes every 300 frames or whatever you set it to (this only means Divx sets at least every 300 frames a keyframe). It also inserts keyframes when there is a scene change in the movie and that will certanly not happen exactly every 300 frames. So you can never predict where the next keyframe will be.

I think that VirtualDUB 1.4.9 has a bug in this cause I tried to cut at a frame wich for me was a keyframe and not for VirtualDUB and everything works fine.
No more freezing at the beginnig of the 2nd part.

Maybe I should install an older version ?

I also use VitualDub 1.4.9 and never had any prob's cutting avi's.
Did you use the yellow 'Jump to previous/next Keyframe' button to jump to the next keyframe or did you watch out for a scene change by yourself? Press this button and go one frame forward and backward to see if it's realy a scenechange. Beside this I allways make an overlay of the two files of at least one keyframe interval, to make sure not to loose anything.
Try it out and let me know.

Unfortunally I use the same button as you do. And I have problems with that.

I can't do an overlay of the two parts cause I would create a desycronisation of the subtitles in MicroDVD. ( Sure you can adjust that but it takes to much time to do it )

I think I will try out an older verion of VirtualDUB or just reinstall it !!

Anyone can help for my first problem ???? It's the one that annoys me most !!
