strange audio/video sync!

Helo folks!

I am trying to make a divx from a set of vob, which I ripped, but it happens that the resulting .avi file is out o sync with video.

Well, the ripping was ok, because when I play the set of vobs in PowerDVD they play correctly with no sync errors, in any part of the movie.

But after flasking it, the divx plays ok in the beginning. But here is the strange part: at about the middle to end of the movie the audio plays too late.

Here are some more specs about the whole thing:
movie lenght: 2 hours and 50 minutes
NTSC: 29.97 fps, progressive.

I am using Flaskv0.6 preview 1_1, Divx codec 5.0 and mpeg layer 3 codec for the audio.
I like to encode the audio along with the video in Flask itself. In the audio tab I chose "use same" (48000), with 96Kbps.

Can anyone help?

Try initially using PCM (WAV) No Compression at 48,000Hz. then load the .AVI into VirtualDub and change the audio "Compression" to 44,100Hz and under "Compression", select any of the available MP3 44,100 sampling rates.

Well, after a whole night of processing as you told me to do in the above post, I got a file sized 2,1Gb (it's 2:49 hours), which isn't playable on WMP (it says "cannot play back the format is not supported) and isn't openable in VirtualDub (1.4.10) (it says "cannot determine file type of c:\xxxxx.avi").

I used Flask, PCM 48000, Divx 5.0, 1 pass enconding).

Any ideas?

I went there.. and it made me more angry once I found out that since I had win me "avi Info" wouldnt work.. BTW.. the launcher doesnt work, and neither does the registry addition. GRRR... that totally ticked me off..

I also made a post so check for "damn sync problems..."

It's strange that you cannot playback a DivX5-compressed AVI file (You did 1-pass only, so the first run is all it takes to get playable result). In that case, try processing the video alone and leave the audio processing to other programs (Graphedit or Vob2audio -> LAME MP3, for example). In the end, you can interleave (aka join) the video together with the audio using Virtual/nandub.

Under "Output Format Options", put a checkmark in the "Split" box and enter 7200.

You can subsequently EASILY join the resultant multiple files under VirtualDub...

Seems to be a 2GB-problem. Some players/systems don't allow avi files with more than 2GB. Compress the Audio to MP3 by using VirtualDUB or split the file at 2GB or less.
