Try to read my complete guide and try that method and you'll see that you get a good quality DivX. If i remember right Saving Private Ryan is about 3 hours this means you probably want to make it wo CD:s to get the best quality.
If you want to try the "best" method immediatly read this guide
this is very hard so I suggest that you use GKnot instead this is much easier cause it do eveything for you. With the same quality. Try out and you should like the quality.
"divx3.11 is still good?"
It's the best. some folks don't think so but some of us here think so.
10x Eci!
That link from ur post dosent works.
Im so confuse with so many ecoders and methods.1 pass?2 pass?
Eny diference between them????
I hope to find the best solution!
10x again!
I have not much experience in encoding DVD's (I do captured stuff from TV mostly). For the few DVD's that I encoded I used Flaskmpeg 0.60 (a previous version of XMPEG).
If you also have not much experience try to use XMPEG first like I did and try to encode to DivX3 and DivX4. The advantage of DivX4 is that it has a (1 pass or 2 pass) variable bit rate.
If you know how this all works. Try one of the methods mentioned in this thread. The method that I will try if I will encode DVD's again is the following: "http://www.doom9.org/divx4-main.htm".
Erci, can u tell me some links where i can find Gknot...others then digital digest or doom9 coz from ther i cant download anithyg....the cause is probabli my download manager...flashget
no I doesn't know any other place.
but if you're using IE rightclick on the link and save target as. By doing this it can help to bypass the download manager. but why don't you use IE own downloading manager. If you use the newest IE it has a "built in restarting where you left of".
If i choose right click and "save target as" i download a ie file where i can read the reasons for the "unsuccesful" download. I will uninstal my flashget and i hope to get better result
This is what I do, and I get really good results.
I first use Smart Ripper to rip the DVD. Then I use DVD2AVI, and I choose to save as Project and not AVI. Then I use TMPGEnc for the finalstep. YOuwill end up with anywhere from 800-1300mb Mpeg file. You can then ( Using the TMPGEnc tools ) spilt the file in 2. Then burn it using WinOncd ( which automatically prepares the file for your DVD payer. ) I have done my DVD's this way, and the outcome is great. The picture is fantastic, and the sound is perfect...
