I have a video file encoded in divx5 (I think) at the beginning it seems ok, but after a few minutes the audio becomes noticeably faster than the video, this increases until by the end of the file the audio is several seconds ahead of the video. I loaded it into virtualdub, and in the file info dialog it shows that the audio is a little over 4 seconds longer than the video. I set virtualdub to change the frame rate so that the audio and video durations matched, but this only made the problem worse. Can anyone give me suggestions on how to fix this?

demux the video/audio. Virtualdub use direct stream copy
you can mux the 2 streams back together and see if that works if it doesn't use Audacity and load the demuxed audio stream and adjust the audio to the same length as the video and save the file. mux the output with the video and see if that fixes your problem.
