    3-2 pulldown - necessary?

If an .avi is 29.97 and will be played on an ntsc tv, would it look better running it through dgpulldown?

Just curious really, I'm seeing a little more image flicker than usual, or more so than say some of the pal to ntsc conversions I've done. I'm just wondering if applying pulldown will help with flickering at all.

When I was building SVCD I use to use Inverse 3:2 pulldown on region 1 NTSC to get 23.97 fps instead of the normal NTSC 29.97 fps.

It would stop the jerky car motion problems. I changed it in DVD2AVI and in TMPGEnc Plus. Another name for it is forced film.

If it is already 29.97fps and you want 29.97fps then there is nothing dgpulldown can do. A 3:2 pulldown is for adding flags to get a progressive 23.976fps source to playback at 29.97fps, which is why the IVTC that ed klein was talking about works.
