    MPEG file problem

I have two mpeg file, preumebly with the same problem. I can't convert neither of them to divx cause I can't open them in nandub
Cause I can't to that I opened one of them in TMPG and try to reencode it to MPEG1. This worked until I came aproximetly 13 mnutes in to the source. Then it stops giving me a very long error message so I opened the source and watched at that time. There I had some problems with the frame. No sound and th picture stops for some seconds. Can I do something about this. For example crop the bad parts of the movie away? I've almost never used TMPG so please give me some help folks. I need it.

"For example crop the bad parts of the movie away?"

    Use TMPGEnc as follows"

    File>>MPEGTools>>Merge&Cut

Are these mpeg-1 files or mpeg-2 files? You could try removing that "corrupt" section using the mpeg tools provided in TMPGEnc. Virtualdub should not have problems opening mpeg-1 files. You may be able to fix the video in Virtualdub.

The files are mpeg 1 cause I can watch them in WMP.
I'll try to use TMPG to cut the movies.

Tell you what, this works most of the time, change the settings (in the combo box) to CQ and CQ = 100.

See what happens, it should not "corrupt" then frames or lock up.

          Usually this works for me.

          Good luck

I had the CQ 100 when I did this yesterday. But how could that help when you have a source with corrupted frames?

It doesn't work I hate this shit.
I could cut to the part where the corrupted frames are but I couldn't cut after it. In other words I got a CD1 but not 2. There have to be some way to fix this.

You could try converting to avi in Virtualdub, then use its utilities to fix and scan the avi for errors, and then fix it.

Batman if you read the first post you can see that my final goal is to convert them to DivX but my problem is that vd/nd rejects the file.

Can it be any other way to fix them in nandub?

                        "but have you tried Virtualdub?"

I said that I can't open the file in Virtualdub(vd)/nandub(nd). So yes I have tried it.

And in my last post I wrote "Can it be any other way to fix them in nandub?"

I meant if it can be any other way to fix them TMPG so I can open them in nd/vd.
