In the DivX Pro 5.01 codec setup are the Mpeg Tools used if you do not create a mp4 file. Also whats the difference between a mp4 file and a .divx file

DXN likes to confuse people, to serve this purpose they came up with the .divx file extension. With divx4 it was simply a avi file that has been renamed, with divx5 you can create files in the MP4 file format can also be given the .divx extensionn.
So to answer your question it's either a renamed avi or MP4 file.
