    encoding xvids with ac3?

When encoding dvds to xvids and keeping the original ac3 audio, will this prevent the loss of audio sync??

audio sync issues shouldn't arise at all unless dealing with VBR audio. quite likely your ac3 is cbr so nothing to worry about

don't use autgk myself, but iirc it uses besweet for audio. search http://forum.doom9.org/forumdisplay.php?f=28

One theory I have read is that AutoGK sync issues are due to improperly ripped protected DVD's. Of course the cause could be something else and keeping the AC3 may or may not help.
