Divx movie to bog for cd!

I have aquired a Divx3 movie, but the filesize is 712Mb and will not fit onto a cd!!

i have tried compressing it using Winzip/Winrar/Winace but only reduce the filesize by a few MB.

How can i re-encode it maybe with divx5 to get better compression? i have tried several programs inluding virtualdub, but i only get the audio????

Cut off the end credits with Virtualdub. Set both Video and Audio tabs to Direct Stream Copy, and use the Mark In/Out buttons to specify the start and end points (respectively) of the new movie length desired.

thanks, but i'm not getting any picture in virtualdub, just a black screen and just the audio. also i tried imprting it into serveral other apps including adobe premiere and it crashes the app.

i've got divx 5 installed, should i try a pc with divx 4 instead?

3.11a + 4.12 codec combination will be a wise decision.

doesn't your writer support writing more than 700mb?
there are plenty of blanc discs that have a capacity up to 730 mb so you can write them with NERO

i have'nt seen any discs with that capacity. know where to buy them or what ones to look out for?

anyway. i managed to re-encode it using divx4 instead of 5 and got it down to 695Mb with not a noticable difference.

oh, and does anyone know where to get this nandub program, i can't seem to find it - everyone seems to reckon it's really good.

lead data cd's have a larger capacity ... but there are others too.
even if it's not on the box ... you should be able to write more on them with NERO then what's been written on the box.

also there are cd's with a capacity of 800 mb's ... you won't find them in your local supermarket, go and ask in a good computer shop. BUT your writer has to support it of course...
probably you will find details on your cdRecorder on the manufacturer's site

if u re-encode it, it will make the quality worse, SOMETIMES better, but 98% of the time worse!
