    Audio encoding quality question

    Hi all

I ripped my first DVD last night, all went well after reading all the great articles and FAQs here. One question tho:

I used Graph Edit to encode the sound. But when multiplexing with Virtual Dub I cannot get a higher quality than 56kbit/s in the available compression formates under MPEG Layer 3. And 48kbit/s is the highest I can actually use, otherwise it tells me that the format is not available.

Also, it doesn't show DivX Audio in the available formats list.

Why is this? I have the 4.11 codec installed. Is this a hardware thing? I have the Hercules Sound Theatre XP which is a fairly powerful sound card/system.

Any help would be greatly appreciated

Have you tried installing different MP3 codecs, or different versions of the one you have already?

Have you tried using Flask MPEG?

I just tried Flask Mpeg and installed the MP3 Dodecs again and Flask Mpeg allowed higher rates. Thanks very much for the help
