Joining VOB titles after converting to DivX

Hi
I've just used Dr Divx to convert a DVD to divx. First I used DVD Shrink to backup the DVD as files in a folder.
Then I had to open each VOB title separately in Dr Divx. It converted them concurrently, and I'm left with six separate DivX files.

What is the best way to join them all again?

And would it be better to use a different kind of software for the converting which would join them all together as one file?

You can use VirtualDub(Mod) to join those files by appending them together. Why didn't you use DVD Decrypter to rip the DVD to HDD in IFO mode with no file splitting in stead of DVD Shrink. By doing that, you'll be able to save the whole DVD in a single file and cut some extra steps

Right, okay. That's good advice. I looked at Decrypter, but I usually use ISO mode and I wasn't sure about the other settings. I'll give that a try.

Okay, I just used VirtualDub to join the files and that seemed pretty quick (quicker than reprocessing the whole movie with Dr Divx). But the six files totalled 1.07 GB before, and the finished product is 1.95 GB. How did that happen?

Are you sure you checked DIRECT STREAM COPY under both Video and Audio before appending the segments?

Is there better software to use than Dr DivX? ie, something to turn it into XviD instead?

Try AutoGK or MeGUI.

Thanks, I'll try those.
The first attempt was a disaster - I think some of the titles were repeated, so I scrapped that and used Decrypter to back it up again as IFO without splits, as suggested. Then used Dr Divx to convert to divx. The movie is on two discs, so I have two files to join together.

Right, that worked pretty good. I used VirtualDub to join the two titles together and it worked. But the audio at the end of the film seems to be out of sync with the picture, lagging just a second or so. The audio seems good at the start of the movie.
Maybe I'll try AutoGK and see if it works better.
