Convert from DVD to ????

What is the correct format to convert my DVD to ???

I want to upload the video on the internet. What should I convert it to? and what should I use to do so?

I am looking for a free software that will allow me to do this.

I am looking for MPEG and AVI format. Does SUPER allow both?

Upload to the internet as in allowing people to download the file quickly (small file size) and easy to play offline (common video format), than DivX/XviD is what you need (I would recommend AutoGK for the job). Or if you are thinking about YouTube type of embedded player thing, then apart from converting to DivX/XviD and then upload to YouTube, you can convert straight from DVD to FLV format (eg. using SUPER) and host it yourself (using a free Flash Video Player like: http://www.jeroenwijering.com/?item=Flash_video_Player).
