    PSP and IPOD

Well my daughters got these recently and were asking me for help converting
    video files(mpeg2)

Is there a program like dvd flick that's user friendly and foolproof?

the mp4 format seems the way to go with PSP from what I have read?

my eyes are bad enough already I can't imagine using these devices

I've heard that Imtoo does a pretty good job with those type of conversions, but I'm not sure about a freeware solution. SUPER? It's definately not for the faint of heart.

imtoo may be the way to go at first, kind of distrust it tho?

I think it's OK...I know alot of spammers like it, but I think the program is just fine.

          Try Videora iPod converter (freeware):

From the same people, PSP Video 9 (also freeware):

Both are very simple to use (wizard style interface).

well I did a test taking a 40 minute HD avi(~350megs in size)
changed the setting to old from new(faster/lower file size?)

worked fine 10 minutes on my xp3200 mobile, mp4 output?

lost just a little of the video quality, should look fine on a psp?

Sure it's HD? What's the resolution?

Should be fine on a PSP, depending on the bitrate and encoder settings. It will inevitably look terrible when upscaled to your monitor's resolution.

If you don't need a GUI, this is pretty foolproof once set up, and fast. Could also be modified for a PSP and batch processing. There is also Videora as already suggested.

Otherwise PSP Video 9 which is more or less the same, but with a handy GUI.

'Tis less than SD (720x576, 720x480), probably sourced from HD. HD is 720p up to 1080p.
