    Pink & green discolouring

Had a bit of an odd problem tonight while encoding a TV episode from an MPEG source. I've been working on the Red Dwarf series for well over 40 episodes with no problems so far, but on this one I get colour distortions in the recompress.

Best I can describe it is, the screen becomes increasingly pink and more rarely, green until it reaches the next keyframe and returns to correct colour.

The only thing that I can see about the source that isn't quite right is, there's a lot of dropped frames in it. Is this the cause? And if so, can I correct it?

Thanks in advance for any tips

p.s. I'm using the rock solid DivX 3.11 Alpha, low motion

I downloaded it - tis a standard looking interleaved 320x240 mpeg, with 32khz stereo audio.

Conversion is done with VirtualDub 1.4.8 & the DivX 3.11 low motion codec.

I've been fiddling with it some more, and discovered it doesn't discolour when using the fast motion dll - weird huh?
