    AVI's increasing in size?

Before I begin, I apologize if I put this in the wrong spot. I was unsure.

I am new to DVD authoring and have been trying to put several AVI files onto a DVD with a menu so I can select which of the files I want to view using Sonic MyDVD. Each of the files is about 180 MBs, but when I put them on the DVD project, they balloon to over 400 MBs, and now I am unable to put all the files I want to on the DVD.

    Any help would be appreciated.

if you are making a standard video dvd then the avi's are being converted to mpeg 2 which uses a lot less compression than the avi container

the limits of a standard single layer dvd are about 2 hours of play time, having 5.1 sound takes up a lot of space, stereo less
