First off, let me explain.
I have around 1000 DVDs and 4 kids that love to get into them.
I'm looknig at options to simplify the process of having all the movies available to them @ the TV and them not having to get my DVDs out.
Ideas I've kicked around.
* Converting my old gaming rig to a media center.
* Buying a Neuros. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16882699001
* Buying a Philips Upconverting player with a USB port.
The media center was my original idea, for various reasons, but I'm still looking for a very simplistic way to do this and I'm not convinced a media center is the way to do it.
The Neuros is a very simple way to perform this task, but it only has component output.
The DVD player with a USB port is nearly perfect and readily available at my local Walmart. (It'll play AVI.Divx, VOBs)
The issue with all these is space. Currently all my movies are in DVD form. I will need to convert them to a smaller format, but I want/need a comparable picture quality as the SD.
So converting to Divx format seems the best route to go. I'm thinking.
The issue is in the conversion software. I have 3 computers capable of performing the tasks and a wife that stays at home..(see where I'm headed here.... )
So suggestions on who you would tackle this project and software suggestions please?
