Q: How to convert 23.986 fps divx to 23.976 fps?

Downloaded Cop Land. Great movie I think. BUT it's in a weird fps count - 23.986. I usually convert from 23.976 to 25 fps in order to convert to PAL SVCD. But DVD2SVCD that I use can't handle this. Is there a solution?

    Thanks for any help.

Use VirtualDub to change the framerate. Make certain to set both "Video" and "Audio" to "Direct Stream Copying"...

Well - too good to be true. Does not preserve audio/video syncronization, as audio lenght is not altered.

      Any better ideas?

      Thanks anyway.

it's pain in the arse ive just been doing something similar for enemy at the gate.

change fps 25 and re save the avi, make sure that both audio and video are in direct stream.

the sound is going to be well out but if you follow the instruction on this link you should be ok

i didn't bother with multiplexing i used the 1.3gb pcm wave file and loaded into tmpgenc with the 25fps avi i converted earlier. loaded the pal dvd template and away it went 4 hours later top quality mpeg, no stuttering as it's not coverting from 23.9760 to 25fps as well as converting the audio.

took ages to work all this out as virtualdub was crashing everytime i tried to multiplex the sound back in. i even tried using wav to mp3 coverters but they seemed to shorten the sound track

Select the appropriate PAL SVCD template---TMPGEnc will automatically alter the framerate.

Changinging the framerate in VirtualDub from 23.986 to 23.976 should not throw you out of synch.

Or, did you perchance use it to change from 23.986 to 25fps?
