I have some movie videos on my harddrive that I want to reduce in size. As they are backups of movies I own I presume they are in mpeg-2 format. Each movie is about 5 gigs in size.
A friend converted one of them for me to avi format with about a 75% reduction in size and pretty good video quality. Before I convert other videos is avi the format I am looking for, or is one of the other formats more appropriate as it relates to playback quality versus compression available versus software ease of use.
Yes, I suppose I am looking not only for an appropriate format but also a freeware product to do it with.
I have some experience with the Rule 19 softwares, so I am not an absolute beginner.
thanks.
