Nero Recode won't encode to MP4 & AVC

I'm using Recode 2.2.8.5 to try and recode some of my DVDs to MP4. I can successfully do any of the regular NON AVC profiles. If I try to use an AVC profile, Nero seems to chug away, gives me a success message but the resulting file is very small 1-6MB and seems to just be audio.

Showtime will not play them (gives me a corrupt file error). XBMC will play them as audio only.

I'm new to trying Nero Digital out so any help in what to look for would be nice. I'm trying to make some mp4s to place on my laptop and take with me.

you could use staxrip and make them.

I tried it and sometimes it dropped 100s of frames near the middle.

Anyway, I got Recode to do AVC okay. I re-registered the .ax encoder and it now outputs the full files.
