Divx DVD can't play Divx movies on my player unless burned on cd-r ????

HI I have no trouble with converting ripping or any other video issue been doing it a long time but I just got a Cyber link DVR-1200 and I can burn Divx movies straight to a normal CD-R and they play perfect but If I burn them to a DVD-R It will not play this doesn't make sense to me I would like to burn DVD-R discs with several movies in Divx to one DVD but they won't play or even understand the divx files on a DVD-R does anyone know why or have any info that can help me??? I just want to cut down on my number of discs >_< is that so wrong.

    Thanks

      Not disc read issue

It is not a DVD-R read issue I know that use DVD-R's to burn my DVD's and mke DVD's on DVD-R and they work perfect although a firmware flash might help i'll look into the new updates and see but ut reads DVD-R and plays Divx files on CD-R perfect just doesn't play the Divx files on DVD-R and i'll add it was the same Divx files I was playing in CD-R format I just wanted to burn all 4 CD-R's on 1 DVD-R >_<

Its the same as car MP3/CD players. Take mine for example, it will play raw .mp3 files on a CD-R but, not raw .mp3 files on a DVD-R. CD-R and DVD-R are both read differently. You player needs to know how to read a "Data DVD". It may play DVD-R disc fine when you watch a movie but, those are DVD Video DVD's. Data DVD's and Video DVD's are two different kinds that are read differently.

yes, that's why i suggested a possible firmware update. go to manufacturer's website and see if there is one or call your tech support.

Tried many flashes maybe give up

I think maybe JMET may be right I don't see how it wouldn't be possible but I can't find anything to make it see my Divx files on a DVD-R. Would be nice to throw 3-4 really high quality Divx flix on a single disc instead of 1 CD-R for each movie but just doesn't seem to be capable of being made to understand the Divx Data on anything other than CD-R media.

It just really gets under my skin when I can make DVD quality Divx files that are alot smaller than DVD format but I can't take advantage of a larger disc to add more playable data I guess the Divx stand alone system just isn't were it needs to be yet or I am too much of a tight wade to buy a decent player lol.

Anyone know of a decntly priced Divx capable stand alone player that would read DVD-R media?

                Dear ravenmsb (or anybody)

I have exactly the same problem as you... It's a long time since you have published your problem and I would like to know how you addressed this particular one.

Did you finally manage to make it play or just you bought another device?

What the technical support said about all this?

                Thanks in advance...

What model is your player ? My LG DVD player plays DVD-R containing multiple Xvid/DivX AVIs without any problem.
