I've downloaded a couple of movies from the internet and wanna watch them on tv. Is it better to convert them to dvd and burn them so that they can be played by a standalone dvd player or do you get better quality if you connect your pc to the tv instead via VGA? Also, when converting avi/wmv/...etc to dvd, is there a quality loss?
connect pc to tv or convert to dvd?

DVD uses MPEG-2, which is lossy. TV Out is also faster, since there is no time wasted converting. Still I would think the majority go with the convert to DVD option. Plenty of standalones now that can play most of the avi's out there. Even some standalones that support wmv. -
I used a product named Video to DVD Burner, which can help me convert my videos to a DVD.Maybe you can try it.
And its site :http://www.dvd-ripper-copy.com

I would say that writing them to DVD if they are already DVD format is the best option. If they are DivX or WMA or XviD and you don't have a standalone that will play these, just play them from the PC - it's not worth the mess about waiting for the conversion and writing to DVD; plus the addition conversion usually jus makes the image look worse.
That's my opinion anyway For what it's worth.Comment
