    ADS Instant Video To-Go

Saw a review of this in a PC magazine just now. Interesting concept - an USB device that contains encoding hardware to speed up H.264 conversion/encoding. Don't know if it is worth the price (1 GB MPEG-2 to 768 kbit/s H.264 in 21 minutes, not really the 5x realtime speed as claimed) - it retails for $US 79.99.

Saw this a while back, interesting idea but I was and remain skeptical. I get 3.5x realtime as it is, and that's with cropping/resizing and all settings maxed out within the iPod's limits.

    When you say 1GB MPEG2 I'm assuming that's a VOB, about 18-20 minutes footage?

Magazine didn't say (actually it said 1 GB MPEG-3). I assumed they meant MPEG-2, and probably VOB.
