File - "DVDRIP"

I`ve got some rest download files and they`re "dvdrip". It shows up that for example its 400MB so what can I do with it? I don`t seem to have the right conversion progr. Are these "Virtual" as I don`t seem to be able to do much with them apart from deleting..which I don`t want to do. Can anyone advise ?

Let me add to my last query... The download got interuppted and I left with like I said 400MB of a complete file of maybe 700MB. and the files are more often than not "DvdRip" type...says its avi but doesn`t react at all like an avi..Cant edit and so on..
