Audio Erred out w/MeGui

Admin here's the log I just received w/the loaded MeGui files. Can you see where it/I went wrong?

The input audio channel is a bit strange, 3 channels (FL/FR/FC), never seen this kind of layout before. Was the input audio a DTS track? It seems to refer to a DTS track, but the earlier logs don't show any reference to it. My recommendation is to look at the input audio again, and only select the main 5.1 channel track to be included in the final output.

I fixed the problem by re-updating to the stable build. Seems the dev build has issues per Doom9's. Forum and web search. Don't know exactly what the issue was, though the stable build worked.

I encoded Scarface again because I needed to see if that would bump up the playback volume. The DVD and also a backup were very low. The MKV file fixed that. I ran 3 different encodes. 1 with all audio tracks which did include a DTS AC3 5.1 track, a regular AC3 5.1, and 1 Spanish and 1 French. track.That went through fine as did the other 2 encodes which included 1 English track and Spanish track, and 1 single Spanish track.

Is DTS a common issue? If so do you suggest choosing a straight AC3 5.1 for better compatibility. etc...
I was wondering myself why even a straight one to one backup sounded low. After the conversion to mkv sound was way better using the PS3 mkv guide wiith the alternative AC3 method.

I dont have any experience with meGUI logs but ever since the latest update i have been upnble to convert 5.1 DTS tracks into 5.1 AC3 tracks while keeping the channels. Ive tried most options for the encoding but every time it gives me a 2 channel AC3 track. I was successfully doing this many times before the update and assume it is just a temporary issue.

I am able to use the upmix options but not the keep original channels option.

Hi hugheser. Which version of MeGui are you using the stable regular build or the Developer's version? When I went back to the stable regular version it fixed my audio issue. I read how the developer version was causing problems, and rather than go through all sorts of troubleshooting with registry stuff etc... I just installed the stable build and my audio problem was fixed.

What container are you using for the encoding and have you tried the Guide on the main site here regarding AC3 5.1 channel with MeGui and the .MKV container?

See if this helps. I would also suggest choosing an original AC3 5.1 track if possible. I don't have Log experience myself though process of elimination many times does the trick.

I'm using the stable version and i found the problem to be in the ffdshow decoder. I forgot exactly what parameters i changed but something with the update changed and i just had to go into the decoder options and fiddle a bit.

What I do is take blu-ray's to one big m2ts file and then convert the audio from DTS/TrueHD or what not into 5.1 AC3 so it will play through my Samsung tv's Media Share on DLNA.

The process was super simple
1)DVD Fab m2ts passthrough to make one file
2)TS muxer to demux and downconvert HD audio
3)Megui DTS to AC3 5.1
4)TS muxer re-mux

Ok so your going straight through your Samsung for playback and encoding Blu-ray. What I've been doing is converting all my DVD files to MKV w/5.1 AC3 to play via my PC or w/TVersity through my PS3. Don't have a 5.1 set up yet though everything's ready when I am. MKVtoVOB makes the files playable via streaming. I also use the whole K-Lite Super pack as I find that it's less prone to issues than individually installed codecs. I don't mess at all w/anything outside of the default settings as MeGui is pretty much to the point where their default profiles w/the correct K-Lite settings are suffice.

I have to admit that since the inception of VidCoder for a 1click solution it can't be beat.
It will also convert Blu-ray files though I haven't done any and not sure if to a similar output or MP4 and MKV. You can look at it if you haven't already on the main site as well.

U know it might have been my old installation was using k-lite and when i reinstalled it started to use ffdshow. I know i have both and don't remember the FF icons popping up while encoding before the new install.

I also use tversity and like its features. You don't have audio sync issues with using MKV? I remember having them frequently before but that could have been the poor quality rips i used in the past. Have you tried to get the playback features (pause\rewind\ff\external subs) through tversity, I've heard it can be done with some code injection.

K-Lite actually has ffdshow and almost all the common codecs used, especially the Full and/or Mega Pack. It's a better approach imo because it not only installs the codecs, it will check for broken codecs as well. It also installs MPC which is pretty good too.

I haven't had any audio sync issues with MKV. Not w/MeGui or VidCoder. The only audio sync issue I had was w/a couple of converted mkv2vob files and I just got a fresh copy/rip and took care of it. It's a bit of a pita to try and fix audio sync issues, even if some players like VLC and MPC supposedly have a fix.

I won't bother trying to insert playback features w/the MKV format or TVersity in particular. Whatever the MKV has it will play on either your PC or streamed via a media server. So subtitles I think will appear if they are there already. There is a small set back w/rewind etc... I think using the mkv2vob conversion, though that's so small it really isn't much of a deal.

Have you given VidCoder a try? Also I found that certain ripping proggies will produce a cleaner rip for encoding purposes as opposed to viewing/playback. For example Fab I've noticed will more cleanly produce a backup than AnyDVD which I've had issues with as far as encoding.

No i havent tried vidcoder. The .m2ts works well for me now. Who knows that the next generation of DLNA electronics are going to want. In fact i think its going to be big business if one standard can pull out ahead and make home media streaming plug and play. ALot more companies will get into pre-made NAS and media players.
