x264 frame multithread

Hi,

i am interested in how encoders and decoders do parallel processing.

x264 claims it does multi frame thread encoding and multi slice thread encoding. But as i check the encoder code it is rather difficult to understand the logic behind it. Anybody know how this works or if any documentation is available?

what about decoding? any frame or slice multi thread support?
