wmv8 = darkness and blur

windows media video 8 creates a darker than usual video during playback on windows media player. The quality is great, but everytime it starts I'm required to adjust the video codec to a greater brightness. I'm using flaskmpeg with the windows media audio/video 8. Is there any way through flask or through the WM8 encoding to fix this annoying task. I'm also having problems with the images becoming blurry for a milasecond intermittently through the film. Could this be a bad encoder, bad codec, or bad settings during the encode?
