    Video player not showing picture

I use xvid, divx, and mpeg2 video codecs to watch movies. Recently all of my video players stopped playing picture and only playback sound perfectly. I have tried uninstalling all video and audio codecs, as well as all of my media players ( WMP and Divx ). I used Gspot to try to find a problem, but i recieved no errors when rendering the videos. Gspot simply said "Direct show claims to be able to play the file."

Any help would be appreciated, as I have little clue what I am doing =).

    thanks,
    Lance

Does ths happen with .AVIs that you've created, or only with downloaded .AVIs?

Is this behaviour occurring with all of your .AVIs, or just one or some that you've recently downloaded?

    1) Load one of the problem video files into VirtualDub (or one of its many variants) or NanDub

    2) From the "File" dropdown menu, select "File Information"

    3) Post (here) EVERYTHING you see (BOTH video and audio information), or post a screen capture .jpg of the information box

      nandub

I cannot run nandub. The error I get says "This application has failed to start because vorbisfile.dll was not found. Reinstalling the application may fix this problem". I tried reinstalling and it gives me the same error .

If you are unable to locate and install the full NanDub package, install VirtualDub or VirtualDubMod instead.

Now, how about answering my original questions, to wit:

            use ffdshow's latest alpha:

Talk about all other file container formats and video codecs in this forum, including Ogg, RMVB, MOV, ASF, WMV ...

can it be that this happened after you installed the
Divx Codec 5.05? (if you have it already)
If so ...remove all prior versions also divx 4 divx, 4.12, 3ivx
any hacked version of divx, Divx 5.02 etc, etc...

                good luck.

it may be a good advice
to use the "codec sniper" to get rid of
codecs that might cause the problem. it comes with the
tsunami filter pack. download both versions of Uncas homepage
(click on anigif logo above that says DVD guide)
then install the codec sniper only of tsunami filter pack 3.3.9

after you "snipered all suspicious codecs install the mini version
of the tsunami filter pack ( version3.9.6) and check if the problem persists!!!
