One More Question for Chewy

I really don't know alot about getting it cooled down. thats why I am asking so many questions about it. I did get a pci slot exhaust fan today to help exhaust some that hot air out of the case. Also where exactally do you mount the case sensor probe in your case? I have mine mounted on the case right next to the motherboard right now and im not sure if thats right or not. Im sorry if im asking so many dumb questions here I'm just pretty unexperienced in the aspect of keeping it cool. I just dont want to blow my processor at all. another trick is if your case has any low front inlets for air, is to raise the case an inch or so to allow that cool fresh air in.

i had no intention of stopping you from asking any question and you're more than welcome to do so any given time

a sempron 2600+ socket A can get quite hot when running full throttle but since you said some 60+°C in almost idle mode is a wee bit too much

i have just seen someone else post similar temps with this board you have:

the northbridge is pretty close to your cpu and it may add up to the temperatures

if i were you i'd install another fan BIG fan to blow in the direction of northbridge/cpu though this will require a little bit of fidgeting

i can try raising it alittle and see what happens. Its just comfusing to me how my cousins is running so well and mine is running hot. He is running a sempron 2400+ and has no case fans in his case at all just the power supply exhaust and has a normal aluminum heat sink and his cpu temp is 33 C, where I have 3 case fans, high cfm heat sink and fan and I cant get mine under 60 C. it just baffles me some.

a couple of weeks ago i have spend some time with a new friend of a collegue of mine

his system specs were quite similar but his cpu was running considerably hotter than mine

on his board the northbridge is located directly next to the cpu which adds heat, he has a different cooler and my system has a differrent amount and layout of additional fans

my cpu fan isnt that much affected by c&q
the artic cooling runs at very low rpm most of the time - with heavy load i have never seen it cross 2000rpm

finally got around to putting the side on the beast's case, temps went down

appart from lowering the core frequency the lower voltage is a very effective way of heat reduction

lower watts/lower heat for sure, what's amazing is the small amount of extra heat from overclocking these amd64 venice cores with higher core volts

alright thanks for the links to the help topics there.......what would you suggest then getting a 120 mm fan and mounting it in the back to blow in over the motherboard and out the top then?
