need some help with replacing a burner

Hello,
I seems simple take out the old one put in the new one.
Make sure everything is hooked up the same way.


Ok .... how do I get the old burner out of my tower?
I have removed the screws and I can not get it out.. what else is holding this thing in place, how can I get the old one out with out breaking my tower case?

hey photo what type of tower or make of pc do u have ? all mine allways came out of the front ,of the case.

once you have your case open and your screws out you have to take off the front faceplate of your computer some times there is a button on top that will release it and some times there are tabs (one on top and one on bottom) on the inside of the computer that will release it once that's off you should be able to slide out your drive

OK everyone I am an Idiot!!!!!
After taking off the right side pannle I found 4 more screws that were holding it in the slot! So that is why I couldnt get it out!!!

I am happy new burner and a gig more ram LOL and all seems to be working well for now.

thanks to all for the replies but the whole problem was really taking the other 4 screws out from the other side. LMAO call me a dummie! LOL

I forgot it was april fools thats explains it. LOL my own brain is working me today. LOL

For Dell PCs you just take the front cover off and the drive slides right out. I did that just fine, I just had to ask my dad how to take the front cover off

Well, most Dell PCs can only hold two optical drives. I was lucky, one broke so I just threw that one away and put the burner in. What Dimension do you have? They are all different.

I bought one card that have two fire wire and 5 usb plug at BB but when I try to open my harddrive I just dont know how, I have dell 3000 pack two one internal 1620 and one disket , I heart that you can change the disket for another burner but I need to know how, I hardly touch the inside before , my external with enclosre keep pile up higher

you need a pci ide controller card to put hard drive on and have your burners
use both the motherboard ide controllers
