hi pot. i'm sticking to my guns on taking the suggestions of the more experienced members, and not having to bang my head w/a hammer for not doing so. maybe you got vista before reading this thread, but if you didn't and went ahead and put it in your system, well then welcome to the issues of vista. i was lucky to have heard through the grapevine by way of some friends, the internet, and finally this thread that vista was problematic period.
like chewy said,"Bill Gates just gave us another reason to build our own." that being said try to eliminate the obvious through trouble shooting w/the suggestions provided like that of jblitz, and the rest of the fellas, and see what happens. my suggestion would b to do a clean uninstall of vista, and install xp if you could, after of course you've tried to fix your issues first to see if in fact it is a hardware problem.
