Windows updates screwed me

I guess that I should try to download the sp again and try to load it again, and see if it will finalize. Nothing ventured nothing gained.

did it the same way except i put it on a dvd-r using imgburn. opened up now. keep 4getting imgburn only 4 dvds. i think.

this update thing always pmo. how can i do a custom download of updates if the site won't let me if auto-updates is turned off? i always try to follow what soup suggested, but the site won't let me do it. what's the steps 4 this? there's no custom option that i see on the update site.

I am not recommending this for everybody, but for months now I have been running with automatic updates on. As you will notice in the pic I prefer to use IE when I go Start / Windows Update.

it goes str8 to ie. i just need to know how you get to that custom feature w/updates off. i've done it b4 i think. can't remeber now. also my resolution got out of wack. just came from the thread on that, but i already have sp2. auto-adjust is on. any help is appreciated as always.

the custom is in soup's screenshot, but that's not the part to worry about, you need to use the review feature before allowing them to download and install

only use the hardware driver feature as a measure of last resort, it's the best way to screw up good working drivers(that and driveragent)

The advice I have been given as far as the Hardware updates go, is to never touch them & as Chewy stated always use the review feature. I found this, I don't know how much it can help, but I will keep looking.

i got it now. have to choose either download but don't install, or notify me and let me download and install. you know i have ie6 still. i don't use explorer anymore, but is the upgrade to 7 worth it, even though i use firefox?

never mind. if it ain't broke don't fix it. have to stick to new years resolution.

FireFox is still my main, but I don't have any problems with IE7 when I use it. The decision is still yours though.
