This is the mobo drivers download page. I am not sure which ones you are asking me to get...

Edit - something happened to the link - it removes the search that I did for the actual mobo.

My mobo is ASUS A8V-VM SE Sorry, I cannot get that actual page to load here on the forum correctly for some reason.

Another EDIT - I am guessing this is it?
VIA ChipSet HyperionPro Driver V507 for Windows 2000/XP/XP 64bit. (WHQL)
The date is 04/14/06 a wee bit old...

    EDIT - Take III

I was looking over some notes I had made when I put this pc together, & I see that I had written down to install the VIA/INF Drivers from VIA Arena

    I have the K8M890 Chipset, I see they have the most recent version of 04/08 listed, which includes;
    INF V3.00A
    AGP V4.60A
    V-RAID V5.70A and RAID Tools v5.40
VIA IDE Falcon Storage Device driver v2.50A
Don't know if I need all that extra stuff. (RAID TOOLS, Falcon Storage Device Driver)

Sorry, I misunderstood you. Yes, it is Win XP home 32 bit. On the websites I do not see drivers for 32 bit, unless I overlooked them.

OK I think I have a clue or two now, only seen this problem once or twice before a while back, if it was the problem?

With these onboard video it gets complicated

              the driver packages are for

              Version 507 2006/04/14 update

              OS Win2K / WinXP / WinXP 64bit

Description VIA ChipSet HyperionPro Driver V507 for Windows 2000/XP/XP 64bit. (WHQL)

what's the driver date in device manager for the agp/cpu component in system devices

edit---you are looking for the pci-e equivalent

If you mean for the "VIA CPU to AGP Controller" - It is a Microsoft driver - date 7-1-2001/Vers. 5.1.2535.0

I know, I know...bad. I guess when I installed Linux on this box & then XP for the dual boot, I didn't bother installing the other drivers, since it "worked", & I only needed to use XP minimally at the time.

?? Don't 90% or more of the motherboards out there today come with onboard video?

                  let's pull the vid card

load the via chipset driver and then the onboard vid driver

maybe we can get a good northbridge chipset driver load that way

Well Chewy, I believe we may as well put a bullet in this one...

I installed a new 500 watt PS, hoping that may be my problem, but it still random rebooted. It was off all yesterday, I started it up first thing this morning after sitting cold for over 24 hrs., & the dang thing rebooted itself twice before I got to the desktop. So a agree, I may have a heat issue, but there is more going on here, it would seem. Faulty mainboard/cpu?

I guess the real way to resolve this is a new mainboard/processor. Want to make a recommendation?
