I notice a pattern of all burns failing between 15 and 20% (regardless of which program I was using to burn with). So I had my computer geek order me a new burner (NEC ND 3550a). When he was putting it in, he noticed that my system did not come with a fan!
He put a new fan in yesterday. I kept the LG GSA 4163 and removed the TSST. Today I have done 11 burns successfully. Overheating was the culprit! My original system only came with the TST burner (and no fan) and I guess when he added the LG, he never noticed the fan's absense. Here is just another reason for failed burns.
I use Dee's latest and never stock! I prefer to bitsett all dvd+r's to
dvd-rom so they will play in almost all dvd players. Usually there are some write strategy tweaks included as the firmware matures.
