You insert the disc first & yes with dvd+r you have to do it each time. I would also read these: The Golden Rules Of Burning.

                hey,
I had to test myself as I thought it didn't remember either. The LG remembers till you reboot the computer.

nero is famous for glitches, every now and then I either run it as a repair disk
or run clean tool and reinstall, it's bloatware but sometimes I need that bloat.

When flashing the NEC drive with BinFlash you can permanantly set the booktype for DVD+R to DVD-ROM..correct chewy? This is what I've done and have never had to set the booktype with any of the programs that I use (imgburn, dvdd or Nero). Furthermore, I was under the assumption that Nero's default setting for DVD+R is to booktype to DVD-ROM...at least mine seems to always be set to booktype.

Varies with versions of nero, earlier versions tried to bitsett dvd-r, later versions do bitsett by default, but that might depend upon firmware also.

bitsetting isn't all that it's cracked up to be, in some rarer cases a standalone will reject it. Overall I trust high quality dvd-r burns more.
