Leave the settings on default. Post a log of your burn. Read and implement the Golden Rules of Burning. Especially ensure you use ONLY Verbatim +R dual layer media (MKM dye) and that your firmware is up to date.

Image Log

Here's my image log. I ripped x3, and made it an image, and keep getting an error. My DVD player only supports -R discs, could this be the problem? This is what it says:

I just got my dvd burner over the weekend, how do i update firmware or check it?

Throw the Riteks out - they are useless. All -R dual layer disks are. Inherently badly designed.

In any event, your burner don't like 'em either. There's 3 rules about DL media and they all start with "Only buy Verbatim" and end with a full stop.

Sadly, if your player only plays a -R (which I find unreal), you will not be able to do a DL.

I know, its crazy. But the manual for my toshiba says only -R. Sucks! Anyways, I burnt X3 to a -r DL and it didn't play in my toshiba, but would play in my sony in my bedroom, which happens not to be my upconvert dvd player. I think i need a better player that with do +R on my bigscreen TV. I'll be returning the Ritek disks today.

I know what you mean there I have a high end Toshiba too and it wont play the +R disc either. (Toshiba's dont seem to like them much)

My next player will be one other then Toshiba. I too have other player in the house that do play the +R discs but not the ones hooked up to the big screen.

I would take blutachs advise though and buy some Verbatims for daul layer discs they are known to be the best.

Toshiba IIRC was part of the -R "forum" and has been stubborn. SONY, OTTH, was part of the +R "alliance" but retracted quickly to allow -Rs to be played.
