    welcome to the forum

might update the firmware and save a few of those disks, hopefully you didn't buy many

we always advise that people use only verbatim for dual layer

make sure it's not a weak power supply, connect the dvd burner to the power supply with a straight run and nothing sharing power in that line of connectors

test the burner by burning at the fastest speed possible on a single layer disk

do you have the burner slaved to another device, bad practise

                same advise as above poster

i believe the burner is set to cable select...and has dedicated power...individual plugs off the supply

if it will burn a verbatim or another goog single layer at a faster speed then
power is probably not an issue

pretty sure when burning dual layer the lowest layer is burned first and takes a little more power

and do you have a single layer disk to test?

scan one of those 16x burns with cdspeed for disk quality

                              see blank media forum

even with the original firmware that benq should have burned those verbs unless they were the newest ones and you burned at 8X
