as a quick test use cdspeed to create a data disk

or post a 6x burn log from nero

that samsung should never be used that slowly?

The 3 dvd roms are just extra drives from Damon tools pro.

Hmmmm Old habits die hard regarding the burning speed, I use to burn only at 4x. I was burning at 10x and ran in to the problem I posted about so I lowered the speed. Just haven't bumped it back up

I built the system, the drivers are up to date with no conflicts. Nice try!!

Still not sure what to think about the error.

lose the attitude, I am just trying to help you and relay what i have seen causing similar problems

that burner and sata controllers is a nightmare, very advanced type of problem

Daemon has been causing a lot of problems lately, another can of worms

        good luck

In the last few months I have seen several problems that never showed up with standard
pata burners and pata southbridge controllers in FOUR forums. There is never any rhyme or reason or common cause. From not being able to update firmware, motherboard bios settings, jmicron chipsets, etc.

Nice try means, nice try and thanks for the effort. No offense should be taken or was implied.

            Thank you for trying.

                Ok Chewy
This log is for 3 burns 2 on a samsung 1 on a liteon. The first burn on the samsung is at 6x and fails to finalize on the first pass the second is @12x on the samsung and we find the same results. The last is the liteon @ 12x and we have success on the first pass.

The samsung is Sata the lite is ata.

I am really tired of tossing my MCC-OO4 out. Any suggestions?

well the liteon is a pata drive in the same computer, does it ever do the same error as the samsung?

might have some glitchy drivers for that sata chipset?

or the 203B is not quite right?

your previous statement about latest drivers?????? sometimes they never ever get it right?

Try checking the 'DVD+R Reserve Track' option in the settings on the Write tab.

Samsungs 203's have issues, you're not the first person to have their drive error out like this and I'm sure you won't be the last.

I tried two burns with the DVD+R Reserve Track box checked. First burn was a success the second failed. I was really excited after the first. Now, I think I am just going to use the lite on for burning. Or pass the Samsung on to a someone I don't like and find a replacement. Its a shame I bought It because it recieved such at good review on another fourm.

Thank you both for the help!

It might make a great drive like some here on the right controller chipset with the right drivers

Was the failure on the 2nd one at the same point? (i.e. in the finalisation stage)

Have you tried DVD-R in it?

I've never had any problems from TYG02 or TYG03 in mine.

Yes at the same point. Once it hits 99% it hangs for 3-5 seconds then errors out.

No not yet on the DVD-R, but it sounds like it might be worth a try. I will order some TY's DVD+R and give them a shot too.

@chewy yes your right. I was really happy with the reviews it received.

what's the mobo? and chipset controlling the samsung?

                              bios settings?

since we are at a standstill?

do you really want the bio settings? Have not tweaked anything to much besides the cpu a q6600 that I bumped to 3.00 GHz and relaxed the timing of the ram
