By nVidia cheating on the 3DMark scores, just shows that not even they have confidence in their own card! so i'm sticking with ATI, which i'm sure will release a card better then the FX5900 soon.

I think we have seen enough benchmark scores to help make skd_tech an informed decesion if we carry on any longer, you'll see another card released, which you will get more benchmark scores for this never ending thread!

Yes, I will leave this thread alone now. I have made my points here and chickeneater has also helped strengthened those points with his own links.

There is no end to this ATI vs nVidia argument anyway. Both companies will always try to outdo each others, and we as the consumers will only benefit.

"I asked you a question on the FX5800. You were also championing the FX5800 in the previous posts. Don't go jumping around to the FX5900 now."

            i am.

            .................why can't I?

Anandtech's "final words" on the Geforce FX 5800:

So there you have it, NVIDIA's response to ATI's Radeon 9700 Pro - but does anyone else feel unfulfilled by the GeForce FX? A card that is several months late, that is able to outperform the Radeon 9700 Pro by 10% at best but in most cases manages to fall behind by a factor much greater than that.

I haven't heard of anyone else with videocard problems. My buddy has returned 6 different older version ATI videocards for warranty replacement the last two years. He sais that ATI has been giving him troubles for the returns and dishonest. And example would be the last card he had failed on him, he decided to completely fry it by applying high voltage to the socket and making the chip smoulder. When ATI sent him the replacement, they said that the videocard he sent in was "Functional" when it was clearly not functional.

Aparently ATI leaked out to him that they were really busy with returns and wouldn't be serving him in a timely manner.
Anyways, I hear alot of good things about ATI from others like you, but for 500 bucks to play a game? Go to the arcade, or buy an Xbox. I spent 30 bucks on an Nvidia Gforce2 MX400 32Mb and it plays all my games fine, and I still kick butt on online gaming with others who have better systems. Mind you I won't be able to play the newest games, but newest isn't always the best. When I get around to the newest games, I'd be able to get an ATI 9700 for 50 bucks. Altho, one trend I dislike about PC's is that manufacturers are using old technology and overclocking it to the MAX which causes enourmous heat dissapation and energy Wastage. If any Videocard I would spend money on would be one that doesn't use hideous ammount of energy and heat dissapation requirements.
Government throws more money at a problem, so it looks like they are making a difference.
