I thought the re-makes to Psycho and Rear Window were so dull and boring they were an insult to Hitchcock. I can't remember the actors name but the one that played Norman Bates in the re-make to Psycho can't act for a start.

I didnt know they re made psycho, but I am sure you are right on that one that would be hard to make better thent he first.

I think it would be hard to beat out the original Halloween as well but I think It would be interesting to see.

I have to agree with remakes it seems like 1.2 the movies comming out are remakes but I think a few of them got a bit better. Like when a stranger calls. The technology is a lot better now then it was back when some of those older movies were made.

One other thing I didn't like to the re-make of Psycho was the Bates Motel sign. It was lit up in big fancy writing, the sort of writing you'll see in the window on a cocktail bar or something. That sign didn't look right.

I enjoyed the re-make of When A Stranger Calls because it was different to the original. However, I still prefer the original. The best way to make a re-make is to make them different to the originals because it seems strange listening to other actors using the same dialogue and if the plot is the same we all know what's going to happen. I enjoyed Poseidon that was obviously the re-make of The Poseidon Adventure and Poseidon had the same plot but what I liked about it even though the plot was the same was, the characters went through different methods to get out of the ship. I won't say anymore encase you haven't seen Poseidon.

I liked the Poseidon, I never did see the original to know the difference but there were saying in the special features that it was a remake.

I am half tempeted now to see the original now though. LOL

I can't ever remember liking a remake as compared to the original. I am not saying some of them weren't good, just not the original. To me it is kind of like additional scenes or alternate endings, if they weren't good enough to put them in the movie for theatres, don't put them in the dvd.

Edit: Nah scratch that last comment, some people like that stuff & if I don't want to watch that stuff on a dvd, I don't have to (personal choice).

The two most recent remakes I like compared to the orginal (which were very poor) is TCM 2003 and The Hill Have Eyes. I also prefer the remake of the The Italian Job.

The onbly good thing about the original is the mini chase towards to end. Even that famous scene with Michael Caine and the car is very tiresome after a few times.

I honestly don't know if I can explain it properly & it's not about the quality or anything like that. When I see a movie for the first time, it leaves an impression with me that, that is the way it was meant to be shown. Now take the Italian Job for example, the remake was very well done & I thoroughly enjoyed watching it but it was slick & up to date (I don't mean that in a bad way). The original, I first watched years & years ago, (a lot of years), it was gritty & down to earth. It made my year when they finally brought the original out on dvd. Of course the most memorable scene as a kid was the Mini's chase. Like I said, I don't know how to fully explain it but of course this is only my own personal point of view. I don't think you would be disappointed watching the original.

I get what your saying and thanks for the reply.I see it also has Michael Caine (I really like him) and Benny Hill. The only thing I have seen Benny Hill in is his comedy show so this really
piqued my interest. I will rent it and check it out

I loved Ong Bak. Unfortunately I didn't get a chance to see "The Protector" when it was out. I will be buying it when it comes out on DVD.After you see it would you let me know what you thought of it ?
