It's not just widescreen but also uses CrystalBrite technology (same as Sony's XBrite). Blacks are a proper deep black and DVD's look stunning. I was going to get a portable DVD player and ended up getting a laptop instead.

Your desktop looke nice. What is that program that is running?

you mean winamp? its just a skin, 'clearONE' is the name

i was extremely close to buying a portable dvd player, but the store was closing, and i didn't want to be rushed

now i'm thinking i might just get a 6.0mp digital still camera instead...

OK. I didn't recognise it. I don't use Winamp anymore. I prefer VUPlayer.

I found a good review of the laptop which help my decision. It is the same one in the review but came with shared graphics instead of dedicated graphics. It was also £120 less money.

i think saw that one in the store today

the guys who set the systems up had beautiful a 1920x1044 nature HD clip running, and it looked absolutely amazing. it really shows the quality of the display, but methinks that type of video PQ is hard to come by, that the customer will buy it, thinking all videos will look like that

i must say though, the people in that clip looked truly alive, as if they were right there! guess that's what happens when viewed on a small display...

yeah i was subscribed to 'webshots' for a while http://www.webshots.com , and got me a couple of hundred hi res photos of the most breathaking scenery you have ever seen

and then some from deviant art

here's one of my favourites from webshots, for your viewing pleasure (the best ones are around 1.4mb each, which would kill my dialup connection)
