Looks like Showtime is looking to take some business from HBO they made a show called Brotherhood I read an article saying this is Showtime's Irish-American answer to executive producer David Chase's "The Sopranos". I will be keeping an eye on the ratings this may be worth renting next year when it comes out on DVD

Plan on watching it tonite (well at least recording it on my dvr) looks like it should be good. I enjoy a lot of shows on showtime. They really have a solid lineup between Huff, Penn and Teller, Weeds, Sleeper Cell, and now Brotherhood.

Brotherhood. I liked it and hated it at the same time. My biggest pet peeve was that the authorities were too close to illegal activities. Surveliance on purse snatchings. Like main character strong willed fellow no Tony S though. Two worlds can't exist on one plain, but i will be tuning in next week.

In the sopranos the feds are constantly chasing Tony trying to pin something on him, but Tony and his gang always seem to steer clear of the Feds when stuff is going down. They talk to him from time to time, but always seem to be about five steps behind what Tony is doing.
In Brotherhood cops are literally watching crimes go down and they do nothing. They know the players and exactly what people are up to.
The longevity of a show like this kinda depends on how long the crime element can stay out of trouble. If you start out the show with the cops having all the answers and being right on thier tail it's hard to believe that at some point in the show they would decide to loosen their surveliance and/ or turn a blind eye.
I understand the dynamic of having two brothers from two different sides of the law and that thin line that seperates legal from illegal, but it just doesn't seem believable that the polcie would allow this activity to continue, unless they are aware that it is a televison show and are concerned with their own ratings.

True, and you know it's really two early to tell what this show will be like, but trying to fill the gap of the Sopranos right now it's hard not to compare the two shows. Still have to watch episode 2. I Hope it's a good one.

I know it's not the same genre the only show that has a shot of filling the Sopranos shoes is Deadwood

Supposedly this season is the last of Deadwood. Apparently they are going to make a couple of movies, but no more shows. The creator wants to pour all his time into some new show. My wife says it has something to do with surfing. Sad if it's true.
