They are great pics PA. I was in DC recently, and went to the Vietnam Memorial. I am always moved when I visit it. Lost too many good friends in that war.
Great that we have Memorial Day to remember.
Thanks to Uufta for starting this thread, and helping us remember better.
I know what you mean I come from a pretty Military family.
Only one of my family members died in the service and he died in training not at war. Guess he had a heart problem that was never detected.
Grandfather on my dad's side came close to never coming home. He was sent home for a week break the day after he left the base was attacked. In fact there was a movie of that attack it was called Pearl Harbor. My grandfather knew many of the men that died that day.
I also had many friends sent out back in Desert Storm. All of my friends came back home ok though, but many of their friends didn’t.
Grandpa on my mother side was older he fought in World War 1 and World War II.
He also came back home alive and well from both wars. But the stories he used to tell were unreal.
My Uncle had a few close calls in Vietnam in the Marine core.
And many second cousins that fought and are still fighting in this War….. hoping they all come back home alive as well.
Anybody that gets HBO On Demand, there is a documentary on called Baghdad ER, about Combat Surgical Hospitals we have over in Iraq. I watched it this morning. No actors, all real and not for the faint of heart. Watch it if ya can...makes ya think !!!
