I remember watching The Exorcist when I was around 13 and heard all the strange things that were happening during filming,.... couldn't sleep alone in my room for the next several days . 'Did Not' want to see the original 'Omen' after that.
Don't think I really care to see this version either.

Oh I will never forget when I was about 12 maybe 11 not sure any more.
But anyways, my father had a home way out in the country.
The house was a huge A frame building with lots of Glass, all of the doors were glass patio doors and all of the windows were almost the size of the walls.
The scenery from any and every room of the house was breath taking.
BUT one night my dad let me have a few friends sleep over. He had cable and HBO ...... he and my step mom had gone out for the night.
And left us KIDS home alone.
So we spent the night watching horror flicks.
Halloween was the first then Friday the 13th 1 , 2 and 3
after watching all of those movies I tell ya every time the wind blew the leaves on the trees we were jumping.
Ended up turning on very light in the house, locked every window and door and booby trapped all of the doors and windows with empty cans so "If someone were to get in we would hear them"
Also ended up grabbing all the BIG knifes in the house. Talk about a group of scared $hitles kids.
I look back on that now and laugh.
And even though the horror movies scared the crap out of me back then I still wanted to watch them and just couldn’t get enough.
** As for my son …. I will allow him to watch those movies but he won’t have anything to do with them. If something looks scary he leaves the room. He refuses to watch anything scary … as he is too scared. Last winter he was at a sleep over party and they were going to put in the movie Halloween 6….. Well my son walked right up to the kids parents and said we can’t watch that….my mom doesn’t allow me to watch those movies.
Needless to say I got a call from the other mom she asked me if my son was allowed to watch this movie…. I told her it was OK…. Not knowing what my son was up too.
All of a sudden I hear him crying and he takes the phone and says “Mommy please tell his mom I can’t watch this…. I am too scared! “
The other mom and I just couldn’t stop laughing. How many times do you hear a 10 year old say MOM please tell them I can’t. LOL
They put that movie in anyways and my son had to sleep with the lights on for a month.
very nice to see another fan of the fridays. your son too? the only other person to announce their admiration for these majestic 80's horror flicks is by none other than our very own nwg. i just watched friday the 13th: the final chapter last night and it was excellent!

My mom started me out on horror flicks when I was 6 years old. The exorcist was my first one. The second was a 1976 movie about a woman who had this little male evil looking doll and it came 2 life and was trying 2 chop her into pieces. Don't remember how or if it got killed????Oh well still have a library full of horror flicks. Some of my favorite horror actors include vincent price, Bela Lugosie, alfred hitcock. Gotta love the oldies.
hitchcock, price are synonymous with excellence in my book

Horror movies used to be great..seems like the one out these days are all about the shock and gore factors..even the old slasher flicks like the Friday the 13th or Sleepaway camps had some suspense in them..Hostel was good but not a true horrror film, Will wait till the Omen comes out on dvd and get it then..the Mrs hates horror movies...gets bad nightmares from them..

Speeking of the Friday's there is a lake in Huebertis (small lake way out in the sticks)
Every Halloween they do a special trick or treat out on this lake Bark lake. There are NO street lights, very country basically some homes on a small lake in the middle of the woods. At one end of the Lake there is an old farm house and every year the people that own the old fram house deep in the woods by the light of the moon. They do their old creaaky barn as a hounted barn.... and as you think the tour of the haunted barn is over ....JASON rises with a chain saw and chases you out of the barn right into a haunted graveyard .....
Its one of the BEST Haunted houses or bards I have ever seen and freakky as Heck.

That is one of my favourite Friday's along with A New Blood with the Psychic. I think FvJ is my most favourite though as it integrates Freddy into the Story. Robert Englund on the commentary is really funny.
I have no interest in watching The Omen. It seems a pointless remake like Psycho. They have redone it scene by scene of the original. There are a few different deaths though.
I really liked The Descent recently I watched it big on a projector in total darkness so it made it more creepy.
