Global Warming. I don't buy into it for a second. Throughout the course of history there have been natural disasters. Matter of fact worst than some that we have seen. The communications media has a lot to do w/the hype. Now we're able to see even your next door neighbor on google earth.

The same guy in congress that brought up global warming also brought up global freezing about 20 or more years ago. So what gives? Doesn't anyone remember that we were suppose to freeze to death around this time because the earth's temperature was declining? $$$ rules all the time. Gore wasn't a rich man at all when he left the White House w/Clinton. Now he has a yacht about a block long. Mother nature has no boundaries. We haven't succumbed to that fact yet.

We are screwing with the enviroment on an unpreceded scale, of course we have had a few thousand years practise, this is not overgrazing a fertile plain and turning it into a dustbowl tho. The greenhouse gases are increasing but so is smoke and soot. People scoffed at ozone layer problem but when further studies were done immediate worldwide action was taken. It's no longer a country wide problem where America can continue to market it's chemicals overseas after banning them here.

10% detonation of the nuclear stockpile from the 80's would have easily caused nuclear winter and a nice ice age.

Geez, after a trillion years or so of pure direct light from the most powerful heat source known something haves to give. Lol...


I saw that piece on the storms picking up speed and strength off the coast of Africa, especially the way they broke down the 1st tsunami that hit Indonesia a couple of years ago. I don't know about some super tsunami originating from there and swallowing up New York City like was also put into a reasonable theoretical prediction. But hey, who knows.

Very interesting material. I'm a history/national geographic and discovery fan.

**The largest volcanic eruption of the 20th century was the 1912 eruption of Katmai-Novarupta (Alaska). Seems like another eruption began about 2 weeks ago from Alaska also. Hopefully it won't do nearly as much damage.

Got my electricity back today.......It was very windy and rain...that was about it.....nothing like Katrina/Rita

How long was your power out. Well I guessed right that your power would go out.

It went out around 3 Saturday and come on today around 2

Tyler, TX is about 30 min from me and most of them are still out of power.

That sucks. Well at least the power is on. Where I live, if the wind was blowing hard the power would go out. If it rained hard the power would go out. It took ComEd over 10 years to fix the problems.

Good to hear you fared well. Saw a lot of damage in the aftermath. I'm doing pretty good. Weather's starting to get a bit more nippy so went out n picked up some winter gear for starters. I definitely need some r&r myself. It's in the works. Where I don't know but I really want it to be a vacation and not do too much. Sometimes you go away n it's like you're constantly on the go. You come back home feeling tired. Relieved you left but not quite getting the rest that one intended.

Thinking about going down south to FL n stay w/a friend for a bit. if that I'll wait till late or middle Nov. when the hurricane season's almost gone.
