I wonder if the NEC 1100a's surprisingly small 2MB cache might be a contributing factor to the artifacting to which you've referred - or have you seen the same artifacting when playing a compressed .DVD from your hard drive as well?

Well, I have the Pioneer AO5, use DVD Shrink, compressed 7.5Gb down to fit onto a 4.3Gb, complete with the extras and menus.
Watched it on a Tosh 32" widescreen at 100Hz, No problems at all.
The real test will be next week back at work on the projector onto the 12' X 8' screen, I will let you all know.

the artefacts are visible in the vobs before burning, thus it is not a matter of dvd writer or dvd brand

i can clearly see artefacts on my 100hz panasonic

of course titles are different and thus cannot be compared or generalized, but the transcoding/encoding is NOT perfect, when the given date is too large.

cce produces better results
