Something i have noticed over the years. Princo, especially Datawrite branded Princo, tends to trip up quite a bit on Samsung earlier model DVD players that can play DVD R.

There is a thread by moles42 which also talks about Samsung dvdrom drives inadequacies. I have a Pioneer standalone dvd player (now less than $80.00 US at Wal-Mart, the entry-level modell), which is the "baser" Pioneer effort, and it plays very good. That's why I choose Pioneer burner again, as quality is in everybody's face.

Yeah, i use the Plu2 drive, with Progressive Scan and DTS, it only cost me £49 off ebay brand new a while back and it has the very latest DVS Loader so it virtually plays anything in any format. Its great.

Now, you understand, if something is worth doing, then it's worth doing well. Pioneer (and some others) don't sell their reputation (allowing others to include their name in product(s)) for $'s.

Firmware hack (update) for the Pioneer 107 is already posted at Doom9 for quicker ripping speeds on store-bought dvd movies.
