the ritek R03's are some of their best, or at least used to be
being memorex would make me suspicious

They are the stuff I use and have had tremendous experience with. Stay away from the G05s - known bad production.

Don't suppose it matters, but I buy the Ritek branded product.

Well, just proves that Memorex is good as well. Everyone head out to Wal-Mart and buy them! They are 15 bucks for a 30 pack - these are the good Memorexes. (I know some of them are bad - these aren't)

No, but they Ritek's, so are the 50-pack of Memorexes that I finised off. I had no coasters in that 50 pack. So, I am sure that these are good too, just these are R03's and the other was G03.

Bestbuy just had Verbatim DVD-Rs and DVD+Rs on sale for 14.99 for 50 packs in my area.

Hmmm. Are those better than Ritek's? Could you give me a BestBuy.com link? I was just at Best Buy yesterday looking at the cameras, and they did not have any 50 packs under 20 dollars. And the $20 ones were crap.

That's the weekly ad for 12/25.

I've also found that when I go looking at OfficeMax's weekly ads and find good deals on discs, when I go to their store to pick some up, they don't always have them out, you have to ask them to get them for you. OfficeMax had a great deal on some Verbatim Double layer discs a month back that they were hiding on their top shelf out of view. Great for business huh.

I can't vouch for the latest manuacturing run, but certainly runs in the middle of last year that I came across were terrific. As I said, not a coaster.

His are probably old stock, it all the new stuff(16x) they are overramping
production on that seems to be going to heck in handbasket.

My R03's from over a year ago still play fine and scan good.

From what seems to be the norm, 8x media is going out of production.

I've had great success with Staples DVD-Rs and DVD+Rs. I wouldn't recommend them to anyone, but I've had no issues with them. I picked up a couple 50 packs for 9.99 each. When I play them on my standalone DVD player to view them on my 47" HDTV, I can't tell the difference between them and Verbatims. But if I do one of them scans through Neros Disc Quality test, WOW, I can't believe they even play because they only come out with a quality score of 18 to 23. The Verbatims come out on top with scores always above 95. Just thought I'd share my results.
