Stop the 16x with that drive for a while, the firmware's too new and media
production is ramping up so much, quality may slip with even the best media.

I get good scans by never pushing it. Remember quality before speed.
Getting a 99QS is like hitting a home run, one guy had a perfect 100,
he's set back an extra scanner just to be able to crossrefernce that disk
and others.
Now that's a ridiculous standard!

C hewy are you aware that I still have the org. firmware for the nec, I had to have the first one replaced, could not get it to burn. The one i had replaced had the 1.Y4 firmware revision.

the original is the same as mine, except bitsetting??? and region free.

All liggy and dee do is mod it slightly at first then after a few months,
when the firmware becomes more mature they make small tweaks.

Have any players that won't play burned dvd's?

if you have any problems with the replacement burner I would consider the nvidia
ide drivers as a prime suspect in the homicde of dvd blank investigation.

Thats what i could not figure out either the only thing i seen was the bitsetting also when it started to burn

Guess what else remember the 230n that was giving me the problems when i ran shrink with the bsod ,well i when out and bought a video card gf 4000 64m ddr and so far no more blue screen

Well it plays fine in a dvd player but not on playstation?Even after the updated firmware.

No not that i no of, im not even sure what that means sorry i just updated the firmware.

Well i typed in the name of the burner and it didnt show up as if it had that option to change the bit setting it just said EDID, 2MB, under Connection buffer,bit. The way i read the instructions it should have said bitsetting, if the drive was supported.
"First, you need to figure out whether your drive supports this feature. Some burners can not change the book type. It just isn't built into them. To find out whether your burner can change the book type, see here. Enter your DVD writer in the "writer" box and look at the features. Under the "Connection, Buffer, Bit" it will say BitSetting if your burner supports this feature."
