make sure all flashes are done in safe mode and no disk in drives, better to have burner standalone master on secondary ide

tinfoil hat is optional but helps with the "sweating bullets" effect

glad to see someone's doing their homework, remember this drive is old and of limited usefullness,
I wouldn't worry about it's usefullness as a scanner, a new benq makes it look sick.

hmmmm call me crazy but never flashed my burners in safe mode, but it does make sense as well as doing it on an ide cable by itself, at least you can't screw up and flash the wrong drive. I just wish monday was here I'm ready for my new benq. You never did answer my ? about just trashing the memorex and using my jlms dvd-rom as my secondary since it does read DVD-RAM, and the benq i bought has a RAM writer in it too.

Sorry for being offline for so much time. I was writing a guide on cd-dvd speed. Now I completed it, but I wrote it in italian language, and I need some more time to translate it. Stay tuned

Verbatim +R 16x made in India burned @ 16x with LG 4167 fw DL-13.

My LG drive burn discs with a really crazy jitter. Moreover, I find that quality of these made in india media is lower than the same media made in Taiwan.

Too bad I don't know because there is no indication on the box. I found these Sony discs on a store in my city, and I bought only a couple of discs, one -R and one +R. I paid each 1.70 euro (about 2.17 USD)

I bought them because I need to do a test before to buy a box of 50 in an online store. I don't like to buy blindly media that I don't know, mostly a 50 disc box... But I must say that I my benq 1640 like these media

i wanted to know,because scans look excellent,from what i could read from the graphs.i pay my sony 8x accucores round 0.80€ - 1$ and i cant get PIE to be under 100 in a graph,and wont even talk bout 20!i dont think thats something to worry.Im buying a pack of verbatims soon,want to find out is my nec better with those

Another verbatim +R 16x made in India from the same box of the previous burned again in LG 4167 DL-13, but this time burned @12x.

Again, my LG drive burn with a crazy jitter, and you can see the effect of that craziness in the TRT.

My LG definitely don't like these media.

I have bought 6 packs of the Sony Accucore 16x -R disc and all were MIJ. I have not seen any MIT except for the +R. I am not saying none of the -R are MIT, but not any that I have seen yet, at the local stores here.

To bad I bought only one of each disc, so I wasn't able to test these media on all my burners. Anyway my benq 1640 like these media.
